Binaural Beats – Free Download

So you want to know more about Binaural Beats – Free Downloads my dear friend? In this article, you shall find the straight to the point information that will guide you into the journey of these amazing beats’.

However Binaural beats’ may not be for everyone and we all have our own opinion. At least you are here to give them a try and possibly, like me, you will listen to them often and feel the difference. YES they do work.

Binaural Beats & Ancient History

What most people do not realize is that although the creation of binaural beats’ audio has only been possible through technological advancement in the last 100 or so years. The use of this natural science dates back thousands of years.

Ancient cultures were aware of how the brain could be entrained through sound repetition well before modern science was able to prove the process.

Now of course, in times past, societies didn’t refer to this science as binaural beats’, but what they did know was that consistent, rhythmic sound had extremely powerful healing and spiritual benefits.

In my local area, every Tuesday morning they have a drumming session in the main street which anyone is able to attend and join in. It is beautiful to see many age groups banging on these drums and dancing. Just listening to the drums, I feel much happier and lighter than usual. It is an awesome experience.

Scientist Melinda Maxfield, PhD, conducted research on the drumbeats used during rituals of ancient cultures and found that they generally beat at a steady rate of 4.5 beats’ per second.

How do Binaural Beats work?

Brainwave entrainment happens inside the brain, and is caused by a physiological response. Upon hearing two tones of different frequencies – sent simultaneously to the left and right ears – the brain perceives a third tone based on the mathematical difference between the two frequencies.

For example: if a 200Hz sound frequency is sent to the left ear, and a 205Hz to the right ear, the brain will process those two frequencies and perceive a new frequency at 5Hz.

The brain then follows along at the new frequency (5Hz), producing brainwaves at the same rate of (Hz). The technical term for this process is ‘frequency following response’. With this the binaural beats’ can entrain the brain to different states, of which there are five key categories.

For example: To induce deep relaxation we can listen to Theta state music. For entraining the brain for deeper sleep, we can listen to Delta state music.

Action: If you have a guitar handy try this exercise:

Hit a tuning fork tuned to a particular sound frequency, such as the note C, and hold it close to the strings of a guitar. What did you notice? Yes, you would have noticed that the C string on the guitar starts to vibrate because it has entrained on to the same frequency of the tuning fork.

Like the pulses of vibration that produce sound on a guitar string, your brain also creates electrical pulses of vibrations all the time when the billions of neurons communicate with each other to get things done. Their activity can be measured by using an EEG (Electroencephalogram), which measures the frequency of these pulses (Hz).

In other words, the emotional state of your mind in any moment, such as feeling happy, sad, frightened, sleepy or excited, can be measured as a frequency.

5 Binaural Beats Brainwave States

Delta

Binaural beats’ in the delta range are set at a frequency of between 0.5 and 4Hz, that are slow and loud like a drum beat. Delta waves are generated in deepest meditation and dreamless sleep.
It can be hard to remain conscious in this state, so it’s very mysterious as to what our brains are actually up to when they are producing delta waves.

Theta

Binaural beats’ in the theta range are set at a frequency of between 4 and 8Hz, which often occur in sleep and deep meditation.  Theta is our gateway to learning, memory, and intuition. It is that twilight state which we normally only experience fleetingly as we wake or drift off to sleep. In theta we are in a dream; vivid imagery, intuition and information beyond our normal conscious awareness. It’s where we hold our ‘stuff’, our fears, troubled history, and nightmares.

Alpha

Binaural beats’ in the alpha range are set at a frequency of between 8 and 14Hz, often found in gently flowing thoughts and some meditative states. Alpha is ‘the power of now’, being here, in the present. Alpha is the resting state for the brain. Alpha waves aid overall mental coordination, calmness, alertness, mind/body integration, creativity and learning.

Beta

Binaural beats’ in the beta range are set a frequency of 14 – 40Hz, dominate our normal waking state of consciousness when attention is directed towards cognitive tasks and the outside world. Beta is a ‘fast’ activity, present when we are alert, attentive, engaged in problem solving, judgment, decision making, or focused mental activity. This brain wave can translate into stress, anxiety and restlessness.

Gemma

Binaural Beats in this range are set at a frequency 40 + Hz and are the fastest brainwaves. Gamma brainwaves pass information rapidly and quietly. The most subtle of the brainwave frequencies, the mind has to be quiet to access gamma.

Potential benefits include:

  • Reduced stress
  • Decrease anxiety
  • Increased focus
  • Increased concentration
  • Enhance creativity
  • Increased motivation
  • Increased confidence
  • Deeper meditation
  • Improved phychomotor performance and mood
  • Increased levels of DHEA – DHEA is a hormone the affects how a person ages and resists disease. Higher levels of DHEA are associated with improved health.
  • Reduced levels of Cortisol – This hormone is commonly associated with stress, and when levels are higher than usual, it can have a negative impact on the body like cushing syndrome, menstrual cycle, female libido changes, anxiety and depression.
  • Increased levels of Melatonin – This hormone plays a role in restful sleep.

Generally speaking, binaural beats’ music is accompanied by ambient, relaxing music, which is usually quite similar to the sound design used in meditation music.

While meditating and istening to binaural beats’, some people choose to sit in the traditional lotus meditation position because it is conducive to attaining a relaxed, centered state of mind.

The two main brainwave states to focus on for success goals, whether that is more money, better relationships, build a career, or something else you need to be in Alpha and Theta range. While listening to Binaural Beats in this range, it is avised and effective to visualize your goal and say positive affirmations.

As the binaural beats have the capacity to manipulate brainwaves, one should be very careful while using these. If you are a normal person without any previous neurological or heart problems, you can safely use it.

If however, you a person with a history of seizures or epilepsy it is highly recommended that you should not use binaural beats without medical or adult supervision. There are chances that the auditory stimulation by the binaural beats can trigger seizures. Binaural beats usage should be discontinued if you start to experience uncontrollable twitching, full-body jolts or sudden jerks. In a few cases, children who have no history of seizures have experienced them while using binaural beat therapy.

If you are a cardiac patient, who has experienced or is experiencing irregular heartbeat, especially if you have a pacemaker, it is recommended that you should refrain from using binaural beats without proper medical advice from your doctors. Research has shown that there is a direct link between brainwaves and heartbeat rhythms. Studies conducted showed that as the brainwaves changed due to binaural, the heartbeat rhythms changed too.

If you are uncertain or concerned in any way please consult with your doctor before trying out these binaural beats.
